Woke up to light snow falling which increased to heavy snow which lasted until early afternoon. A few light flurries of snow mixed in with drizzle in the morning.

Early evening, wet snow fell for around an hour which left a very very thin layer on the cars. None settled on the roads or pavements and the snow soon turned to light rain and then as the temperatures rose the snow that had settled thawed.

Woke up to a covering of wet snow on the cars and grass but the roads and pavements were mostly clear. In Banstead it snowed all morning and most of the afternoon leaving a decent covering but when returning to Reigate it appeard that none of the snow had settled and it had mostly fallen as rain during the day.

Heavy persistent rain for all day and then in the afternoon turned to sleet before turning to wet snow early evening which didnt really settle on the roads. On Box Hill it was starting to settle on the roads.

Light rain, followed by heavy snow for about a two hours from 0730 hours fell leaving a good covering on the roads but due to it falling duing rush hour it was mostly washed away by the moving vehicles. Quickly melted with only a few fields on higher ground having any left by 1600 hours

Motorists are being warned to drive with extreme care after freezing conditions in England led to a series of accidents. No-one is thought to have been hurt but a 25-mile (40km) long section of the A1 northbound in North Yorkshire was shut on Monday morning. A police spokesman said there were a number of collisions involving jack-knifed lorries and other vehicles. Schools have also been affected with about 55 closed in Essex. A total of 39 were closed in East Sussex with a further 19 closed in Kent and Medway. A handful of schools were also closed in the East Midlands, Warwickshire, Surrey and Yorkshire. Severe weather warnings are in place across England with ice posing a major hazard on roads and pavements. Some rail services continued to suffer following the weekends big freeze. Southeastern hoped to operate a normal timetable, but said cancellations and delays were "very likely".

Well, the forecasters were spot on. It was stated that snow would arrive in Reigate between 1800 and 1900 hours and at 1813 hours the first flakes appeared in the air! It then continued to snow well past midnight. The snow was fine and small flakes but was constant for 6+ hours. By 2330 hours there was 55mm of snow in the garden.

Heavy snow in the evening left a further 40mm covering on the existing snow fall. Thousands of people face further disruption to their Christmas travel plans as cold weather continues to grip much of the country. BA cancelled all short-haul flights out of Heathrow while Eurostar passengers in London queued around the block. Gatwick Airport is shut and will not reopen until 0600 GMT on Tuesday.

Light snow showers fell for a couple of hours early afternoon followed by a very cold night - with the lowest temperature recorded during the night of -8.6.

A band of heavy snow swept across southern England today bringing both Gatwick and Heathrow to a standstill. The snow was heavy for several hours and gave 20cm at Farnborough, 9cm at Heathrow and 11cm at Charleswood. London saw between 5-10cm with higher values in places. In Reigate snow measured 140mm by the afternoon after a morning a constant heavy snow.

Overnight rain and southerly winds bought a thaw to the south east although there was still a lot of snow on the minor roads at 0700 hours.

Further snow during the night added a further 10mm of snow. Gatwick has reopened but flights are limited and other airports are experiencing delays and cancellations. Eurostar is operating a reduced service with delays of up to 90 minutes and there are no Gatwick Express trains. Police forces in Kent and Surrey advise drivers to travel only if necessary. Sandown Park, in Surrey, has been forced to abandon Fridays race day. Merstham, Horley, Knaphill, Dorking and Byfleet libraries were closed on Thursday.

Another night of heavy snow with a further 140mm falling overnight. The snow now 290mm deep in Reigate! Light snow fell for the majority of the day adding although it is fine snow and did not add too much to the already high volumes of snow. Police in Surrey have urged motorists not to use the roads unless it is an emergency, following further snowfall. East Surrey Hospital has issued an appeal for people with 4x4 vehicles to help get staff to and from work. Southern Railways said all its services south of East Croydon had been suspended because of the wintry weather. At least 225 schools in the county have been closed because of the wintry conditions. Overnight snow had increased the lying depth to 130mm by 0900 hours, increasing to 150mm by 1500 hours. Gatwick Airport was closed for the day. More than 100 schools have been closed across the county and rail and bus services have been disrupted. Some roads in Leatherhead and Reigate including the A22 and the A217 are "extremely icy" and should be avoided, police said. One motorist told BBC Surrey it had taken her more than eight hours to travel from Guildford to Epsom Downs. Southern Railway said services were not running between Redhill and Reigate and Redhill and Tonbridge in Kent due to signalling problems.BBC News Link

Woke to a slight covering of 5mm of snow and light snow showers. Snow fell for most of the day with occasional heavy snow and by 1700 hours there was a covering of 50mm in the rear garden. Travel chaos as normal hit Surrey in the evening rush hour causing motorists to be stranded on the M25 with over 400 lorries abandoned on the Surrey section overnight. St Bedes, along with many other schools, announced they would be closed on Wednesday 1st December.

Overnight snow showers left a 1mm covering of snow in the morning. This quickly melted though with the rising temperatures and did not cause any problems to road users.

This caused all of the schools in Surrey to close and many communters took the Highways Agency advice and stayed at home. Light snow fell constantly for the whole of the day and by 1630 hours there was a total covering of 160mm on the ground. With temperatures only just creeping above freezing during the day and then a very harsh frost of -5.6 the heavy snow froze leaving the roads very hazordous. Temperatures the following day did not rise above freezing and with the councils starting to run out of rock salt for the roads, the minor roads were very dangerous.

The day started off with light rain but with the temperatures still around freezing this rain fell onto iced up snow. Mid afternoon, for about an hour, heavy snow fell which froze instantly and left the major and local roads very dangerous. The road network ground to a halt with reports of eight hour journeys to cover less than ten miles. The Eurostar and Eurotunnel trains stopped running and caused major problems for people trying to travel for their Christmas holidays.

Very heavy snow fell for around 2 hours from midnight to just after 0200 hours giving a solid covering over the area. It fell on top of the frozen snow from Friday 18th December leaving the minor roads very slippery and dangerous.
