The Euro Tunnel now allows you to take your car on the train, and cross under the English Channel in 35 minutes. They have up to 4 crossings a hour, 24 hours a day which really is a great service for those wanting to take their own cars across to France.
The train arrives in Coquelles which is just outside Calais, and it is then a 6½ hour drive down to Sompt which can be done in one day or taken at your leisure with an overnight stop in one of the many Chambres d’hôtes you will find on the way.
